Our comprehensive eye examination is just that .... comprehensive! We make sure that all aspects of your eye health is carefully explained in common terms so that patients can understand their issues. We like our patients to be involved in the care of their eyes and see ourselves as their partner to guide them to optimal ocular health and vision. We have machines which take both 2 and 3 dimensional analysis of both retinae and optic nerves which enhances the diagnosis of both
macular degeneration and glaucoma. We liase with many Ophthalmic surgeons and have the expertise and equipment to provide the necessary information for them to manage a wide variety of ocular disease through our clinics. Our reputation has been based on the time taken to explain to patients the status of their eyes and vision needs. We always endeavour to convey complicated concepts in layman’s terms and are always available to answer questions.
Information technology has revolutionised eye examination techniques over the last 30 years. We’ve kept up with the times and have computerised instruments which can measure your spectacle prescription, digitally photograph the inner and outer layers of the eye and more recently, scan through the layers of the retina, or film of the eye. These techniques help to earlier establish whether diseases such as macular degeneration or glaucoma maybe present and also help to determine a patient’s susceptibility to these ailments. Of course instrumentation is one thing separate from knowledge. Our Optometrists exceed the standard of continuing professional education required by the Optometric Board Australia, and are involved in the teaching of clinical skills to the final year University of Melbourne Optometry students. Our Optometrists are always accessible if further clarification or discussion is needed.
